So I intend on this blog post being a positive one. I want to go into 2022 with a spring in my step! So I think now is the time to start thinking what my intentions are for 2022. Let’s just say 2021 wasn’t what we expected, I think a lot of people were optimistic about the year (I mean how could it get any worse than the year of being in constant lockdowns!). However, we are still very much in that slog of come on now surely it can get a bit better than this! Although 2021, we learn’t to appreciate things more and we had a slightly more “normal” year. I’m hoping 2022 is already full of big opportunities for me so I am ready for an exciting year ahead. Here I want to share my intentions with you to make 2022 a great year!

The first intention I wish to talk about is taking time to read. I am one of these people that can come addicted to scrolling at night on social media. I want to break this habit by getting into reading before bed again. Back in 2020, I created a book club with my uni friends which we all took it in turns to choose a book. During lockdown this was a great way to reconnect as we all live in different places. It was a fun thing to do together, whilst not actually being allowed to be together. It made me want to read the book as we could all discuss what was happening together and made me look forward to the next person’s pick as they all seemed to be different. This was also great for discovering new genres and books that I hadn’t even thought of picking up and reading! As the saying goes you can never judge a book by it’s cover!

Enter red face here… in all seriousness I want to start as I mean to go on into the next year. So I’ve started going to park runs again and I am determined to go on Christmas Day this year, now that is commitment! I really enjoyed going last time and really loved the community and atmosphere of it all (even if they did decide to put several hills into the route not nice!) I get a sense of achievement if I go and I know I feel great afterwards. So next year I’m determined to get up to 50 park runs (I’m currently up to 17) and more incentive as well you get a free t shirt if you make it up to 50 and who doesn’t want a free t shirt haha. I’m also upping my fitness goals for next year and if I get a place in the London Marathon I will really need to up them! I’m hoping to move house in January so hopefully I can join a gym nearby and would like to try out different classes. Here’s to a healthier fitter me next year!

Next year I am going to practice some more self care. Recently I treated myself to a pedicure and went to a pretty pricey Spa. It was so lovely just take that time for me though, as I don’t often do this even on my days off. I always feel like I don’t have time, but it’s definitely important to make time! If you don’t look after yourself you can’t look after others, which I find this concept very hard being a nurse, but it’s very true! So I am going to treat myself every month to do something for me whether that is going to a spa or even if it’s just booking in self care day and then spontaneously doing something for myself or treating myself to something (even the simple things like buying myself a bunch of flowers). Do more things for me is what I’m trying to teach myself. And that may also be saying no to things, as this can become overwhelming sometimes. I’m very much a people pleaser so I will say yes to everything which on occasions has left me stressed or doing things that I don’t really want to do! My closest friends know this about me, so I am going to make a conscious effort to say no in 2022 and I’m not going to feel bad about it!

Recently I got into baking! A hobby I never thought I’d get into as again my brain was telling me I didn’t have time! I call myself an amateur baker as I’ve only really scratch the surface by making banana bread! I have really found a love for baking and found it to be therapeutic. People have loved my baked goods so maybe I have found my hidden talent! I hope to make more baked goods for friends and family and it would be really nice in my new home to bake for people when they come round! I am hoping to become the perfect housewife haha. Hopefully I will broaden my skills and branch out more so I can make different things rather than JUST banana bread! I also really enjoy cooking when I have the time so I’d really like to start making different recipes and again host dinner parties (that’s if we are able to in the new year!) I would really also love restart my piano lessons for next year, work kinda of got in the way of going to it and made it less enjoyable as I was too tired to practice. However, starting a new job I’m hoping will make a lot of difference with my routine and hoping to have more time for all these hobbies! So here’s hoping I can get back to getting those piano fingers out soon!

Lastly, but no means least I just really want to get my confidence back this year! I’ve noticed a change in myself and I’d like to get back to the smiley, bubbly self I used to be! Certain things this year have knocked me back more ways than one and I haven’t felt myself lately. I think with the steps that I’ve mentioned above I can get back to being the best version of myself! I want to enjoy smiling in photos again and not worrying so much about things that don’t really matter! Charlotte will be coming back to you all soon! I promise!

And finally I would just like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a happy new year! Let’s make 2022 the best it can be! I hope you all have a wonderful day tomorrow with all your loved ones! Thank you again for taking the time to look through my scrapbook! The last intention will be to carry on with this blog as I have very much enjoyed writing this year and putting this blog together! So I intend to see you all next year in 2022!
