Thought I’d kickstart the year with a little travelling blogpost! I’ve been waiting to write this since July last year thinking I wanted to share about my Cornwall trip with my boyfriend Liam. It was a little spontaneous trip we decided to do since travel restrictions back then we’re still a lil iffy, we decided it would be nice to take a trip to Cornwall since none of us had really been before. It was the perfect time too as it was July, height of the summer perfect weather for exploring the beautiful beaches of Cornwall! (However English weather did mean we endured some rain too!) We decided to book an Air BnB for our trip and our host couldn’t have been more helpful! We stayed in a little village near to Penzance called Crowlas! Our Air Bnb host had a lovely Town House and would make us breakfast each morning then we would set off for the day making plans of where to go and what to see and do! She gave us many ideas of what to do whilst we were here and at the end of our trip we had explored and enjoyed so much we gave back some recommendations to her!

Our first day there wasn’t the best it poured down with rain and then we couldn’t get a reservation anywhere for dinner! My word of advice if you’re ever going to go to Cornwall pre book restaurants in advance it will save you a lot of hassle! (Liam was not happy as we had to settle for a McDonald’s on the first day!) We did manage to experience some stunning restaurants that as you can imagine the seafood they served was just on another level! So fresh! If you ever want to experience seafood, then Cornwall is the place to be! This picture was taken in the beautiful seaside town of St Ives! The second day of the trip was a lot sunnier which proved to be the best day to go down to St Ives.

Another word of advice would be if you are going to go to St Ives get the train! This was advice given to us by our Air BnB host, we got the train from St Erth train station which was about a 10 minute drive from our Air BnB. The train journey was stress free and we got to take in all the scenery which was stunning! This was the picture I took when we got off and walked down a bit from St Ives train station, it actually looks like we are somewhere exotic! St Ives is a very popular destination for tourists as you can imagine, so there’s lots of people walking about and with driving it’s hard for cars to get through with really narrow roads as well (we were so glad we got the train!).

Other days we visited various different places a couple of rainy days we still enjoyed, one which was at the Minack Theatre, Penzance. This had a lot of history behind it where several years ago a lady called Rowena Cade pretty much built and created the theatre by herself. They unfortunately didn’t have any shows on when we went but had people practicing for future plays. It’s an outside theatre basically built out of the rocks that Rowena would carry herself and then build. A different place to go and experience.

On another wet and windy day of our trip we also took a trip to Land’s end which probably wasn’t the best day to go as we could literally see nothing! But we can now say we’ve been there and got that iconic picture with the sign to prove it!

On another day we took a trip to St Michael’s Mount which you can walk across to when the tide’s out from Marazion. When the tide is in there is a little boat that goes across. We decided to walk there and then we got the boat back when we’d finished exploring the little island. There is a little population that live on St Michael’s mount, but mostly it’s a place where tourists go to visit the castle and the gardens surrounding it. This was a good weather day so it was a good place to go and take some nice photos with our cameras (my front page photo is one that Liam took there).

I also just wanted to share a few of the restaurants and pubs we visited whilst we were there. We mainly visited Marazion as it was close enough for us to get to from our air BnB and we managed to get in the end some reservations to places that turned out better than expected. First up we visited a lovely friendly pub which was called The Fire Station. With lovely views of St Michael’s Mount. We were the last one’s in there chatting to one of the ladies serving us as people were more interested staying inside watching the footie (let’s just say we aren’t really football fans but it worked in our favour as it was nice and quiet). We also visited in Marazion The Goldolphin which is a hotel, but you can visit their restaurant too which we were most impressed with! If you are a massive fan of seafood you will love it here. It feels also very classy in there and had a range of different wines to choose from and the waiters/waitresses would also come round and offer their expertise on how to use the instruments to get into the seafood ( we had no clue we were worried that we may end up flingy shells at another table by accident!).

The last place we decided to take a visit was a lovely fishing village called Mousehole which is near to Penzance. This was quite a quirky place to visit and was full of little shops that had artsy things to look at and we also looked at a little craft fair there. A nice seaside town just to stroll around for the afternoon. We had a look around here before we left to go home 😦

Once again, I hope you enjoyed this part of my scrapbook! Have you ever visited Cornwall? Where would you like to travel this year if you can? Thought I’d write this as the weather has been horrible lately, so thought would write this just to give you a bit of sunshine! Let me know if you have any travel plans and any comments you have down below 🙂
